Tools You Need To Know About Before Starting Your Body Painting Business by Mohamed Elmasry
Are you ready to do body painting, but you aren’t sure what to use or how to begin or where to locate everything you need? I am here to go over how you can find and how to use the right body painting tools.
Step One: Know exactly what tools you need to do the body painting.
There are a lot of different types of paints on the market today and many are not good for body painting. Whenever you use a paint that isn’t right, you could have you or the one you are painting have a reaction to your paint and it could be a severe one. The last thing you want to be doing is be body painting on a child and have them break out in sever hives, so please be sure you are purchasing the correct paint made for body painting.
The correct type of paint for body painting has been thoroughly tested for the use on our skin and is very safe for doing overall body painting. In my opinion, I wouldn’t buy any cheap deals on the paint; I would buy the best paint to start with. It really isn’t that much more expensive and it’s better to be safe than to be sorry.
You are going to need some high quality sponges and brushes for your body painting too. You do not have to buy the highly expensive type of brushes, but you should go with the ones that have natural fiber bristles and not those really cheap craft brushes because these tend to leave hairs behind as you use them. And, those cheap brushes that are stiff can be uncomfortable on the people you’re body painting and you don’t want that. So, pick up some very soft all natural brushes in about three different sizes to begin with.
I would go with one very small brush with a fine and pointed tip for doing those fine details. I would also buy a brush that is about half an inch wide and another one that looks like a fan for doing the blending. These would be great for starting out in body painting. You also need to get your sponges so you can put on light coats of paint to cover the larger areas fast. You can get these at the same locations where you get your brushes.
Step Two: Know where you can purchase all the supplies needed for body painting.
There are 2 really great body painting companies that I know of. You can find them on the Internet and you can find everything you need there. You may not find these supplies locally unless you are in a big city and they happen to have a great body painting supply store that carries the proper paints.
Snazaroo does mostly face painting and they center on painting the faces of children. I like how this company complies with all the child safety and FDA guidelines. They are the only place that has a great child toy safety rating. If you’re in the market for safe paint for children they are the best choice.
The next places for body painting materials with great reputations are Mehron and Kryolan. Kryolan specialized in professional and theatrical body painting materials. Mehron deals in professional makeup and they specialize in body painting materials also. You’ll find all you need from paint to sponges to paint removers and more and you can get them all online.
Step Three: Know the supplies that are going to work best for you.
The big difference in the three companies is Snazaroo is geared more for kids and the face painting and Mehron and Kryolan are more for theater, professionals and adults so you’ll find more high grade materials there. Really think about all you will need for your body painting business. Are you going to mainly just paint children’s faces? Or do you hope to get into the professional side of body painting?
If you’re budget is tight and are just getting started and you can’t invest a whole lot but you still want good quality paints and I would start with Snazaroo but if you really want to be a professional and deal with other professionals then you need to go with the other two companies.
Sitting down and making a thorough business plan will really help you know just exactly what you need so you can then budget your money and get the correct supplies that you need to start up your body painting business. Once you start using the supplies you will know more about what works for you and what doesn’t. Ask other body painting professionals and see what they like the best and why as this can really help you decide what you need.
